HAKIARDHI has been providing accessible, land legal advice and counselling to vulnerable groups of small producers who are disproportionately affected by poverty. Beneficiaries of legal advice and counselling are small producers whose land rights have been violated, under their limited knowledge on land matters and legal procedures to remedy these violations. The advice is given to groups of individuals seeking judicial reprimand but is not in a position to afford associated costs, rather settlements outside judicial courts are much easier and cost-effective and those who cannot afford to pay for legal services. The land legal advice and counselling are offered to individuals, but more preferably to the group of individuals in rural and peri-urban areas. The majority of people especially in rural areas prefer the use of the administrative and mutual resolution of conflicts before taking the matter to the judicial system. The land legal advice and counselling is offered pro-bono.
